Youth & Children’s Resources for Sunday 21 June

YOUTH MINISTRY

The Big DDYC Camp Out

We can’t do SUMMER MADNESS this year but DDYC is bringing SUMMER MADNESS to you with The Big DDYC Camp Out! We would love you and the young people in your parish to join us for one night only, on Friday 26 June from 6.00 pm as we provide a Summer Madness experience. Find out more here.

Reflections from the Woodpile

The ninth of a weekly video bible reflection series for young people exploring the Sermon on the Mount is now available, you can find it here. This one discusses Matthew 6: 5–15, Prayer.

This can be used for young people within the parish as part of your Sunday worship or as a discussion starter within a zoom youth gathering. Download the script and questions for reflection and discussion here.

Reflections on lockdown

We want to hear from young people and youth leaders on what lockdown has meant to them.

Lockdown has brought unprecedented changes to our lifestyle, our interactions with others and what we consider normal. Each experience is also unique and important.

We have created a form here by which young people can give us their perspective  Through these responses we want to build up a picture of experiences of lockdown that we can share and learn from. There is the option to give a name or not, to have what you submit be used publicly or not. There are a number of ways to respond this. There are set questions to answer, you can also submit  photos, drawings, journaling, poems and videos by uploading onto the form here. Please share this opportunity widely.

DDYC Minecraft Realm

Our DDYC Minecraft Realm is underway and has been having good interaction. For young people to be involved parents must fill in an online permission form (download here). From there the young person will be invited to join the realm.

CHILDREN’S MINISTRY

Father’s Day

Last week was the last JIGSAW@Home for this term but this Sunday it’s Fathers’ Day. Julie has written a reflection to help us think about Father’s day and what that means to us whatever our family circumstances. However, we have a bigger hope and joy in knowing the Father our Lord. Download as a PDF: Father’s day Reflection

Catch up on the all age family talks on our Youtube channel: downanddromore

Together@Home

Lectionary based Sunday School material for Sunday 21 June, another great idea from Together@Home. A pdf resource on Isaac can be found here

For Families

‘Hannah Prays’ encourages Family prayer together for the week ahead and is posted each Monday on our Instagram and Facebook pages.

Sunday School is ending. . . are you having an end of year service?  . . .  have you thought of prizes? Richard Ryan from the The Bookwell has options available. Opening hours for June are Mon–Fri 2.00 pm–5.00 pm and Saturday 10.00 am–1.00 pm. Please bring your own gloves if you have them. Only 2 customers in at any one time. Thank you for your patience and support.

The Summer

C of I Children’s ministry Network for Ireland have produced a ‘Summer of Kindness’ ideas newsletter, full of great things to do and challenge kids and families with over the summer months. Coming soon!

The online 5 day Holiday Bible Club 2020 will be ready for the end of June.

FORKY’S GREAT ESCAPE . . . from the ordinary to the extraordinary. You can organise this in whatever way suits best as all the elements we’ve prepared are separate –  talks, reflection time, quiz, prayer activities, craft activities etc. Run it as a one–off HBC or on 6 weeks of Sundays (or week days) the last being a drive–in cinema where the families watch toy Story 4 with treats and an epilogue.

There are constant updates on Facebook and instagram. Visit DDYC or JIGSAW for more resources and ideas or @ddyc and @jigsawddyc on Instagram.
