Worship Course raises up new young leaders

A brand–new course which gives an introduction to leading a congregation in worship has just finished in Belfast.

Aimed at helping young adults understand the role of sung worship, the course taught several key topics such as: a biblical model of worship, the character of a worship leader, worship leading that is appropriate, and growing your musicianship.

Nineteen young adults, from a wide variety of churches and backgrounds, completed the 7–session course based at The HUB student chaplaincy at Queens. They were supported by seven experienced worship leaders who taught the various elements of the course and also led them in worship each evening.

Commenting on the last night of the course, the co–ordinator, Andrew Brannigan said. “We’ve been blessed with a several, experienced worship leaders who have a vision and passion to raise up new leaders.  We’ve been able to organise this course, the first of its kind for our church, with the help of the Priorities Fund and are looking forward to next part of this vision.

“In the New Year, 15 of the current participants will enter the ‘Worship Mentoring’ stream, where they will work alongside an experienced leader to develop their skills and confidence in leading, culminating in a worship project in the summer.”
