Revd Colin Morris is ordained presbyter

Congratulations to Revd Colin Morris who has been ordained presbyter for the curacy of Kilmegan and Maghera where he will continue to lead St Donard's Community Church, Dundrum. Bishop David ordained Colin along with five others at a service in Down Cathedral on Sunday 15 June 2025. The preacher was Revd Paul Harcourt, Vicar of All Saints' Woodford Wells in Essex.

Colin reflects on his deacon year

My deacon year, in many ways, was a continuation of what I have been doing since September 2020 at St Donard’s Community Church in Dundrum. At SDCC, we have continued our focus on connecting people to Jesus and helping one another grow in their love and knowledge of him.

Some new things that came my way this year were the privilege of conducting a baptism and a wedding. It was a real joy to help families and couples think about how Jesus was to be the main thing of their respective big days. Increased opportunities in local schools through assemblies, coffee with staff and board of governor meetings have also allowed us as a church to better understand particular needs in our communities and schools. In all we have done this past year, God has been increasing my awareness to do all things in his strength and in partnership with those in the harvest field around me.

As in previous years, I am so thankful for the people around me. The church family in Dundrum are a delight to serve and serve alongside. I have deeply appreciated the wisdom, guidance and support of Rev Willie Nixon and, more recently, Rev Capt. Isaac Hanna, who have tried to steer me in the right direction. I am ever thankful to God for my wife Jenna and our children Connie, Alfie and Eli, who very much share in many aspects of the work.

We are delighted to be able to remain and continue our work in Dundrum during my forthcoming curacy, as well as serving more widely in Kilmegan and Maghera Parishes. I look forward to forging a close gospel mission partnership between the church families as we work for God’s glory and the good of many.
