When you can’t camp out, camp in!

That’s what Glen Community Church did when they realised that their annual camping weekend faced cancellation because of the Coronavirus lockdown.

The team at the Glen planned a full programme of activities for the Bank Holiday weekend (8–10 May), and families took part either from a den built indoors or, for the braver souls, a tent pitched in the back garden.

There was stacks to do, and the challenges and devotions all came under the banner of Keep Connected. Revd Adrian Dorrian led devotions on the Lord’s Prayer, Julie Currie presented some superb crafts, Ashley from the Glen taught the Lord’s Prayer in Makaton and the memory verse was taught by Sharon from the Kids Team.

“Days before we began the weekend of activities, the families who pre–registered received a free goodie bag which was filled with all the resources for them to complete the crafts as well as some treats and other resources for exploring family faith,” explains Stephen Doherty, leader of the church.

“It was really well received by everyone who took part, and it was so good in these uncertain times to be able to help families of all ages focus on God and stay connected with the church and each other.”
