Church of Ireland General Synod 2026
The Church of Ireland General Synod 2026 took place in the Slieve Donard Hotel, Newcastle, Co Down. Unusually, the Synod Eucharist took place in the Synod Hall but that did not detract from the sense of worship. Archbishop John celebrated, and the soon to retire Bishop of Meath and Kildare gave the address. Matt Good and the musicians from Hillsborough Parish led us beautifully. On Friday afternoon Down and Dromore was given the opportunity to present an overview of mission and ministry in the diocese. It included a short film with encouraging ministry stories and an interview with Mike Donal from St Mary's, Ballybeen who has a powerful testimony of conversion and transformation. A young band led two songs of worship before Bishop David concluded by outlining the diocese's commitment to leadership, discipleship and apostleship.
