Diocesan team visit to Chile

Please continue to pray for the seven-strong diocesan team currently ministering in our link diocese of Santiago, Chile. The team members are Bishop David and Hilary, George and Eunice Newell, Revd Mark Lennox, Millie Bellew and Tracey Taggart.

On Sunday morning Bishop David joined Bishop Juan Esteban to confirm five adults at a service in Iglesia Cristo Redentor. The service was emotional and the presence of God was very evident. In the evening the team went to the outskirts of the city and attended church in Iglesias Anglicana Penalolen. This church meets in a community centre and currently does not have a pastor. Please pray for this congregation.

On Monday the team visited CEP Theological College and led seminars for the students on the importance of children’s ministry, family life and ministry and engaging with secular culture. They also met Joaquin Cortes, a young ministry student who is being supported by some churches in Down and Dromore. Please pray for CEP.

Tomorrow, Bishop David, George and Mark will speak at a clergy breakfast and in the evening Hilary and Millie will speak at a ladies event.

Please pray for these ministry opportunities, for continuing health safety and unity and that the language difference won't be a barrier to effective ministry.

Santiago recently suffered floods and mudslides. Please pray that the forecast wet weather will not result in more damage or limit movement around the city.

Finally, Bishop Juan Esteban and his wife shared with the team that there is a massive fostering crisis. There are currently 700 orphans aged between 0 and 3 years of age in an orphanage in Santiago. Please lift this crisis up in prayer.
