Opening the doors wider in Castlewellan
Summer has been a really encouraging season for us at The Well as we continue to build relationships and seek to be a visible and welcoming presence in Castlewellan.
We had a fantastic week with a team from Cedar Creek Church in June, getting out into the community and meeting people. We spent a lot of time going door-to-door, visiting local shops and businesses, praying and simply getting to know people. For us, mission is often about being present, building trust and showing people the love of Jesus in everyday ways.
One of the things that has been particularly encouraging is seeing the ‘ones’. We may not be seeing hundreds of people coming through our doors, but we are seeing individuals who are becoming interested, asking questions, coming back and beginning to explore faith for themselves. Some have been hearing about God and Jesus for the first time. One lady we have built a particularly strong connection with over this past season has started attending St Paul’s Church and was baptised in July. This was such an exciting and encouraging moment, not only for her but for the church family, and a real reminder to us that every person matters deeply to God and every story has eternal significance.
We are also excited for the next season of ministry. A second mission team will be joining us in September, alongside the launch of our first children’s club, Well Explorers, for primary school-aged children. Our teenage drop-in, Our Place, is also starting back, and we are excited to welcome some new young people we have connected with over the summer. We are exploring the possibility of an older teen night too.
Please pray for these young people, for those beginning to explore faith, and for more volunteers to join us so that we can continue to open our doors wider and see God’s Kingdom grow in Castlewellan.
