New Area Dean for Iveagh
Bishop David has appointed the Revd Willie Nixon as Area Dean for Iveagh in Dromore Diocese. He succeeds Dean Geoff Wilson who retires at the end of July.
Willie comes from a farming family in County Fermanagh, but God called him away from the dairy farm to ministry and he was ordained in 2000. He has been rector of Banbridge (Seapatrick) since 2024, prior to which he was incumbent of Drumbeg. Willie is also the Warden of Diocesan Readers. He is married to Caroline, and they have two daughters, Anna and Alice, and a son, Sam.
Willie said, “I am excited to take on this new ministry as Area Dean and pray that through this role, I can help to bring a missional edge to our work together for the Kingdom in this area of the diocese.
“It is a privilege to serve Jesus in this role as we support parishes through the challenges vacancies bring and as we encourage one another as clergy and parishioners through gathering together for fellowship as we walk in step with the Spirit.
“May the Lord use this role to build and grow his Kingdom.”
