Welcome Andrew!

A very warm welcome to Andrew McClelland who has just joined the diocesan team as our Youth and Young Adults Officer.

Andrew comes to Down and Dromore from his role in West Church, Bangor, and brings 17 years of experience in Youth and Children’s work. Indeed, he began his ministry journey in Saintfield Parish where he served as the Youth Worker for three years.

Andrew says: "It has been an absolute joy over these years to help lead young people to Christ and walk alongside them in their faith. More than anything, I long to see teenagers develop a faith that lasts a lifetime, not just a season."

As he settles into his new role, Andrew says that preparations for both Summer Madness and the Kilbroney Adventure Camps will be high on the agenda.

"Summer Madness and the Kilbroney Adventure Camps play a vital role in the spiritual, and leadership development of teenagers and young adults across the Diocese. I’m excited to be part of the programme and support the incredible volunteers that serve faithfully each year. Camps could not be run without them.

"Please pray that teenagers this summer will give their lives to Jesus. I long to see teenagers grow deeper in their faith through, worship, word encountering the Holy Spirit, and building deep Christian friendships.”

There are just a few places left at camp so please get in touch with Andrew for more information. The same is true for Summer Madness - get a few young people and leaders together and come for the whole thing, weekend, or even just a day - you will not regret it.

The next few months will be full on, with plenty of new names to remember and programmes to serve in. But Andrew is excited to connect, support, and pray with clergy, leaders, and volunteers from across the Diocese.

“Please contact me if you’ve questions about programmes, events, resources etc.…or if you have opportunities for me to come to a programme you are running, I’d love to come support you, through sharing, through worship, and prayer.

“Before I started this job, I had a real sense from God to do two things - love the Diocese and pray for its people. Send me your prayer points and I will most definitely pray.”
