New Safeguarding Policy is live
A new Church of Ireland Child Safeguarding Policy was implemented on 7 May 2026 at General Synod and replaces Safeguarding Trust.
The policy is live and must be adhered to, so we urge parishes to make sure they are acquainted with the new policy in full. This will include immediately updating posters and informing the parish panel and youth and children’s leaders of the new reporting procedures.
As you will see on the graphic below, the diocese is providing updated training and has added extra dates. However, if volunteers have been trained in the last 3 years and have been given the new reporting procedures, they will not need to be retrained until 3 years have passed since their last training.
