Confirmation season gets underway
Down and Dromore’s 2026 Confirmation season has begun with a service in Magheralin Parish Church on Easter Sunday evening 5 April.
Warmest congratulations to the sixteen candidates confirmed – twelve from Magheralin and Dollingstown and four from Magherally and Annaclone. This year’s theme is Shine and Bishop David is preaching on Matthew 5:14-16 and John 9:4-11, 35-38.
The young people of the parish are encouraged to be involved in all aspects of the worship and during the service we often hear personal testimony from at least one candidate. Where possible, the bishop meets with the candidates, their families and sponsors beforehand.
Our Diocesan Youth Development Officer will usually be on hand, supporting the parishes as the whole congregation celebrates this milestone in the lives of their young people and adult parishioners. Those confirmed all receive gift bags and afterwards, everyone is invited for desserts (supplied by the parish).
Offerings collected at Confirmation services go to the Diocesan Bishop’s Ministry Fund and are used to support the faith development of young people and the raising up of leaders in the diocese.
