Called to Reader Ministry - Eleanor Cochrane
Eleanor is a parishioner of Drumgooland and was commissioned as a Diocesan Reader on Tuesday 21 April at a service in her home church.
I have seen God’s guidance throughout my faith journey, shaping my calling to serve. From Sunday School and confirmation in the Church of Ireland to committing my life to Christ at St Paul’s, Lisburn, I began serving through teaching and youth work. This experience sparked my passion for ministry and nurtured a heartfelt desire to make a positive, lasting difference in others’ lives.
In the years that followed, I continued to serve in various churches through teaching, leadership, and worship, including roles on Select Vestry and as Church Warden. Now in Drumgooland Parish, I have grown through Bible study, prayer, and active involvement in parish life, embracing every opportunity to support, encourage, and strengthen the community.
Completing the Parish Readers course deepened my faith and led to opportunities in worship leadership, which I value greatly. My work with Messy Church, particularly with children and families, has been a source of immense joy, purpose, and inspiration.
Through these experiences, I have come to recognise God’s call to a new chapter of service. My time on the Diocesan Readers course further strengthened this calling and enriched both my faith and my ministry. I look ahead with trust, praying for continued growth, faithful service, and a deepening love for Christ, His Church, and all whom He calls me to serve.
