A statement regarding the attack on Lurgan Police Station
The Rt Revd David McClay, Bishop of Down and Dromore, the Ven Mark Harvey, Rector of Shankill Parish Lurgan, and the Revd Raymond Kettyle, Rector of St John’s Lurgan, have issued the following joint statement:
"As Church of Ireland leaders, we wish to put on record our condemnation of yesterday’s cowardly and reckless attack on Lurgan Police Station. Our thoughts and prayers are with those who have been traumatised by this incident.
"There can be no justification for any attempt to take our communities back to the violence and intimidation of a past era.
"We also condemn any attempt to damage the good relationships within the Lurgan community whose people are committed to working together for the wellbeing of all."
