Death of Revd Canon Tom Keightly
"It is with deep sadness that I have learned of the death of Canon Tom Keightley," writes Bishop David.
"Those of my generation will remember with fondness Tom’s courageous and outspoken leadership, his humour and quick wit, his love of God and his ability as an evangelist and pastor to lead people from right outside the church into a living relationship with Jesus.
"We will all miss Tom, but our love and prayers are especially extended to his supportive wife and fellow worker in ministry Meta, his children and grandchildren and his wider family as they grieve. May all who mourn Tom’s passing know God’s close presence and love.
"Tom never liked the modern version of the words in John’s Gospel that he said reduced God’s 'mansions' to 'rooms'. So, with confidence and faith in the crucified, risen , ascended and returning Christ we affirm, 'In my father’s house are many mansions'."
