Mama Rejoice meets MU leaders
Leaders from Mothers' Union in Down and Dromore enjoyed morning coffee with Mama Rejoice at The See House on Saturday morning. The ladies were hosted by Bishop David's wife, Hilary.
Mama Rejoice leads MU in Maridi Diocese and shared some of the vital work that they do among women and families. The need is great in a country which has endured many years of civil war and the displacement of thousands putting immense pressure on land and resources.
In particular, Mama spoke of the imminent demolition of the Maridi Family Centre to make way for the construction of a major road. MU runs programmes in the centre and they will not be compensated for the loss of the building.
Down and Dromore will shortly launch an appeal to help the diocese rebuild as without a new centre, the social and economic vacuum left behind will impact families and the wider Maridi community for years to come.
