Outreach and invitation at Seagoe Parish

Throughout this year Seagoe Parish has held a series of Speak Jesus events where we have both equipped parishioners to 'Speak Jesus’ to those around them and created opportunities for Speaking Jesus to the parish and community.

The 15th anniversary of the opening our Parish Centre and the 209th anniversary of the consecration of the church building both fell at the end of June which seemed the ideal time to hold a major event.

On Sunday 22 June we incorporated focused prayer for the following weekend’s Community Fun Evening and Speak Jesus invitational service. We encouraged ongoing prayer throughout the week and a team of people delivered publicity material to homes in the parish.

On Saturday 28 June the wind dropped, and the sun shone just as the Community Fun Evening got underway with a walking treasure hunt around the area, a tractor and vintage vehicle run, a BBQ and a range of activities for all ages. We were grateful to our adjoining school for the use of their sports area.

A parishioner’s husband sang a mixture of popular and gospel songs throughout the evening and Revd Stuart Moles gave an evangelistic address. We had a great turnout from the local community as well as our own parishioners.

Our invitational Speak Jesus service followed on Sunday 29 June. The rector interviewed his Churchwarden about his Christian faith and how he lives daily in relationship to Jesus and Revd Stuart Moles once again delivered a challenging evangelistic sermon encouraging commitment to Christ.
