From Multan, Pakistan, a call to pray

Following overnight hostilities between India and Pakistan, Bishop David has been in contact with Bishop Leo and our link diocese of Multan, Pakistan, where missiles have struck. Both bishops urge us to pray.

Bishop Leo writes:

“Regrettably, the situation here has become deeply alarming. At approximately 1.00am India launched missile attacks on six cities in Pakistan. One of the affected areas is Bahawalpur, a city within my diocese, located near the eastern border with India. The city has come under direct attack, resulting in civilian casualties.

“We earnestly request your continued prayers for the de-escalation of hostilities between these two nuclear-armed nations. May both governments be guided by wisdom and humanity, prioritizing peace over aggression.

“Both India and Pakistan are grappling with immense challenges, including poverty, terrorism, and sectarian division. A vast portion of their populations lives below the poverty line. These nations urgently need peace, stability, and socio-economic development—not war.

“In this critical hour, we call upon the global Church and faithful around the world to unite in fervent prayer for peace, protection, and wisdom for the leaders of both nations. The Church in Pakistan stands united with Pakistan, trusting in God’s mercy and providence.

“May the Lord protect His people on both sides of the border, and may peace prevail.”

Thank you for praying.
