Confirmation season begins
We’re delighted that Down and Dromore’s 2025 Confirmation season has begun, and we warmly congratulate the 12 candidates confirmed at a service in St John’s Killyleagh on Sunday evening 11 May.
On this occasion half of those confirmed were adults who had completed an Alpha Course run by the parish.
This year’s theme is Follow Me and Bishop David is preaching on Matthew 4:18-22 and James 2:18-26. Where possible, the bishop meets with the candidates, their families and sponsors beforehand.
The young people of the parish are encouraged to be involved in all aspects of the worship and during the service we often hear personal testimony from at least one candidate.
Josh Thornbury will be on hand, supporting the parishes as the whole congregation celebrates this milestone in the lives of their young people and adult parishioners. Those confirmed all receive gift bags and afterwards, everyone is invited for desserts (supplied by the parish). DDYC bring a donut wall, popcorn machine and a pick and mix station to the party!
Offerings collected at Confirmation Services go to the Diocesan Bishop’s Ministry Fund and are used to support the faith development of young people in our churches through Confirmation.
Please pray for all those who have been or will be confirmed this year, especially that they will follow Jesus for the rest of their lives.
