Celebrations in Orangefield

St John’s Orangefield finally got to celebrate the magnificent refurbishment of their church building and facilities with a Service of Thanksgiving on Sunday 25 September.

The work to repaint, re–floor and remodel the building was completed in early December 2021 at a cost of £550–600,000, of which only £120,000 was a loan. Many old friends who enabled the refurbishment to happen through their generosity returned to celebrate, including the architect, surveyor and building contractor (known as The Dream Team!).

Bishop David blessed and rededicated the church and there were interviews with two parishioners, one a teenager and the other one of the oldest members who was there when the current building opened.

With music from the choir and band and a talk looking ahead to all the parish should be for Jesus in the coming years, it was a service to remember, topped off by a delicious lunch in the hall. Roll on the next 60 years!
