Maridi celebrations conclude

Our link diocese of Maridi in South Sudan has just concluded four days of celebration to mark the 100th anniversary of the arrival of the Gospel with missionary William Haddow.

We are grateful to CMS Ireland Director, Jenny Smyth, who carried a letter congratulations from the diocese and video messages from both Bishop David and Bishop Harold.

The Centenary Celebration was officially opened by the Primate of Episcopal Church of South Sudan, the Most Revd Dr. Justin Badi Arama. It began with a procession from the tomb of Revd William Haddow to the Cathedral square, a distance of one and a half kilometres, followed by presentations from over 30 choirs. Thirteen Episcopal bishops and thousands of Christians from the different Dioceses in Western and Central Equatoria attended.

Other highlights included the confirmation of over 300 candidates on the Fourth Sunday of the Feast of the Epiphany (above).

The women and students celebrate in the short clip below.
