A fresh idea for Harvest

Glencraig Parish have introduced a fresh idea into their harvest celebrations with a Harvest Prayer Garden set up in the church grounds.

The six simple stations offer prayers and a guided meditation on Ecclesiastes 3: 1–8, a passage universally known as ‘A Time for Everything’.

Under the headings uproot, heal, build, laugh, dance and gather, you are invited to spend time with God and in some cases to anchor your prayers with a small task such as placing a stone (build) or uprooting a lollypop stick from a pot and dropping it into a bin as a reminder of repentance (uproot).

Glencraig’s rector, Revd Catherine Simpson, had the idea for the garden and wrote the material, sensing that Ecclesiastes 3 was a helpful passage in this season and at this stage of the global pandemic.

The Prayer Garden has already attracted interest from passers–by and will be open from Thursday 14 until Sunday 17 October when the parish will hold their Harvest Services.

Our thanks to Catherine who has kindly made the original material available to us as a download HERE.

You are very welcome to drop by and pray
