Diocese of Albany welcomes Bishop–elect

Our link diocese of Albany has written to the diocese with a warm welcome and assurance of their prayers for our Bishop–elect, Ven David McClay.

13 November 2019

Dear Bishop–elect David McClay and our Brothers and Sisters in Christ in the Diocese of Down and Dromore,

We, the Bishops, Standing Committee, Clergy and people of the Diocese of Albany, offer our heartfelt praise to our Lord Jesus Christ for Archdeacon McClay’s election to be the next bishop of the Diocese of Down and Dromore. We consider Archdeacon McClay to be a great friend to the Diocese of Albany and a dear brother in Christ. We look forward to his many fruitful years of ministry among you.

We vow to be in earnest prayer for Bishop–elect McClay, his wife Hilary and their family as they begin the transition from their current home in Willowfield to this next chapter of their life and ministry together. We also pray that the Lord will bless you all as you begin this new journey.

The Diocese of Albany has been deeply blessed by our long–time relationship with Down and Dromore. We look forward to continuing our work together for the kingdom of Our Lord Jesus Christ.

Almighty and everlasting God, from whom cometh every good and perfect gift: Send down upon Bishop–elect McClay, and other clergy, and upon the congregations committed to their charge, the healthful Spirit of thy grace; and, that they may truly please thee, pour upon them the continual dew of thy blessing. Grant this, O Lord, for the honor of our Advocate and Mediator, Jesus Christ. Amen. (Episcopal BCP, 817)

Faithfully yours in Christ,

The Rt. Rev. William Love, Bishop of Albany The Rt. Rev. Daniel Herzog, Bishop of Albany (retired)
