60 years of Fellowship, Friendship and Family

St Columba’s Men’s Club and the Ladies Guild both celebrated their 60th Anniversaries at a special service of Thanksgiving on Sunday 20 October.

Both were formed in 1959 and have been a vital part of Knock parish life since that time.  The rector, Canon John Auchmuty, gave the address and described the ethos of both organisations as ‘Fellowship, Friendship and Family’. He went on to thank the members for their support for each other, the parish and the church over 60 years.

The rector also mentioned the many gifts such as stained–glass windows and church furnishings which have been gifted to the parish from both of these organisations, in addition to their tireless fundraising efforts as the church premises were updated and maintained.

At the end of the service, Canon Auchmuty dedicated a lawn bench gifted jointly for use in the church grounds.  This lovely bench was designed and crafted by Mr David Kelly, a member of the Select Vestry.

Afterwards the congregation enjoyed coffee and a piece of the celebratory cake kindly given by the Select Vestry.
