Select Vestry Evenings

Bishop David has invited our newly elected Select Vestries to a special evening focusing on passing on our faith to the next generation. There will also be a short act of worship where vestry members can dedicate themselves to Christ’s service for the year ahead.

The speaker will be Jasper Rutherford, who has been involved in some very challenging research regarding the urgent task of passing on the faith to our young people, young adults, teenagers and children across Ireland.

Jasper is European Director of Christ in Youth as well as being a Church Army Captain. He is a passionate evangelist with a heart for peace and reconciliation and has been involved in youth ministry for nearly 20 years, within the local Church and with para–church organisations.

This will also be an opportunity to meet vestry persons from other churches over tea and coffee. All evenings run from 7.00–9.00pm.

Dates and venues

Tuesday 23 May: St. Mark’s, Newtownards, for the Loughview, Ards and Clandeboye Area Deaneries.

Wednesday 24 May: Holy Trinity, Banbridge, for the Iveagh, Mourne and Clanbrassil Area Deaneries.

Thursday 25 May: St. Ignatius, Carryduff, for the Lagan, Lecale and Dufferin Area Deaneries.

Please pray for our Select Vestries as they carry out their important duties with future generations in mind.

  • We give thanks for all those who faithfully serve on our Select Vestries and pray that God would bless and encourage them.
  • Pray that these evenings would serve to inspire and equip Select Vestries to reach the younger generation for Christ.
  • We pray that God would fill our leaders and congregations with courage and faith.
  • Pray for a spiritual harvest in the diocese.
