Vacancy, Community Coordinator

Boring Wells at St Christopher’s, Mersey Street, wishes to appoint a Community Coordinator to unlock God–given potential in us, the community and in our network of stakeholders, so that we can grow and develop our work, as well as ensuring the smooth day–to–day running of St Christopher’s activities.

This is a part–time post of 3 days per week (22.5 hours).
Salary: £25,951 pro rata (SO1 at point 29 on the NJC scale).

About

We are a community of faith of around 70 people who are discovering how to play our part in building God’s kingdom in inner East Belfast and beyond. We are part of the Boring Wells network, which is a ‘Fresh Expression’ of church with close links to the Church of Ireland and a company limited by guarantee with a charitable basis.

We live out our Christian faith in a variety of ways including: operating a food bank (‘The Larder’) providing groceries for over 3,000 people in need each year; hosting a fun and accessible weekly Sunday gathering, which includes breakfast, Bible–based discussion, activities, worship and prayer; supporting a local community association; operating an allotment to enable local people in growing food for themselves and The Larder; and supporting local Bible–study and discipleship groups.

A key focus of the role of Community Coordinator will be coordination of and active participation in the Sunday Gatherings, supporting the team to deliver interactive services that cater for a wide range of skills and abilities. The successful candidate will also build mutually beneficial relationships with the local parish and diocese and grow our network of partners, stakeholders and funders.

We will comply with the Pensions Act 2008: Following the staging date the organisation will enrol employees in an appropriate scheme which is compliant with Automatic Enrolment at a rate of 2%. It is a fixed term post to end June 2018 with the possibility of extension subject to review.

We are an equal opportunities employer.
