Meet Myrtle Morrison

On 3 September 2017, Myrtle Morrison was ordained Deacon to serve in Craigavon.

I grew up in Fanlobbus Parish in West Cork. My teens were significant as, through the influence of Scripture Union, Church Army and Faith Mission my faith became more personal and important.

On finishing school, I applied for the Church Army Christian Service Scheme and spent a year in an inner city parish in Liverpool.  God stirred in me a call to full time ministry in Church Army and I started training in September 1985.

I worked for five years as a Parish Evangelist in St. Matthew’s, Belfast before moving in 1993 to Lambeg Parish where I served for almost seven years. My role was to establish a church presence in a working class area of the parish previously unreached by the church.

I then worked for six months as a Church Army volunteer in Toronto Canada and on my return became Evangelist in Charge of St. Saviour, Craigavon in December 2000. I am still in that post and also serve as a hospital chaplain.

I now sense God calling me to ordination as the next step in my adventure with Him. My hope and confidence is in God, because “we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all–surpassing power is from God and not from us.” 2 Corinthians 4:7.
