Meet Andrew Irwin

On 3 September 2017, Andrew Irwin was ordained deacon to serve in Donaghcloney.

I’m a Portadown boy, thankful that I was born to parents who followed Jesus and were involved in church.  I grew up through the different parish youth organisations but was also strongly impacted by Edenderry CE and Xpression Portadown. My faith started to grow as God challenged me through the teaching, worship and community and provided opportunities for me to serve overseas.

I graduated in Computer Science from QUB and worked across various roles for a few years whilst getting more involved in church, and other organisations. I completed the Foundation Course and also spent a formative three months in Tanzania with Tearfund.

For the past two years, I have enjoyed the close community in CITI and the friendships that have been formed as a result. As I enter the final year of three there is a real sense of excitement and privilege as I move to a new church to serve God and his people and continue my studies.

My heart is the same now as it was when I started this journey, to see the church live out the mission God has granted it: faithful proclamation of the Good News of Jesus Christ to all, and building a gospel community where people are discipled and committed to living faithful to Scripture.
