Down Cathedral ‘exceeds expectations’

“Down Cathedral has once again picked up a prestigious all– Ireland tourism award.”

At the beginning of this month the Down Recorder featured an article entitled ‘Down Cathedral gets top award.’ The cathedral recently received a ‘CIE Tours Gold Award of Excellence’ for the Best Bus Tour Experience in Ireland during 2016. Down Cathedral was praised for ‘consistently exceeding clients’ expectations. The winners of the Awards of Excellence are chosen from feedback surveys completed by CIE Tours International customers.

Joy Wilkinson, Cathedral administrator and shop manager, received the award at the CIE Tours Award ceremony in Dublin. Joy has worked in the cathedral for over 30 years and has given many visitors a guided tour of the award winning location.

Speaking with the Down Recorder The Very Rev Henry Hull, Dean of Down said, “I am particularly delighted that Mrs Wilkinson was there to receive the award. She has been a wonderful servant of the cathedral for many years and has welcomed visitors from all parts of the world.”
