Congratulations to Rev Terence Cadden, Rector of the Parish of Seagoe, Portadown, who was installed as Precentor of Dromore Cathedral on Sunday evening. Bishop Harold honoured Terence after 18 years of service to the Diocese of Dromore.

Members of the Cathedral Chapter led the service, which featured music by Terence's wife, Alison, and the preacher was Rev Norman Jardine. Friends and colleagues from  former parishes came along in support, including Bishops Ken Good and Ned Darling.

The Precentor of the Cathedral is traditionally responsible for the music life of the chapter. Whilst this is now a purely ceremonial 'job' it highlights for everyone in the cathedral the importance of music in worship.

Terence was ordained deacon in 1989 and his first curacy was in the Parish of Coleraine in the Diocese of Connor. In 1992 he moved as curate to the Diocese of Dromore to Shankill, Lurgan, before taking up the post of Pastoral Director in the same parish where he served for 8 years. Terence spent 5 years as Rector of Gilford before being appointed to Seagoe, Portadown in 2006.

Speaking of his appointment he said, " I feel very honoured to have been made Precentor of Dromore Cathedral  by our Bishop.  Throughout my ministry in Dromore Diocese I have really appreciated the opportunities I have been give to serve in both Parish ministry and in a variety of capacities within the Diocese and it is very humbling to have had this ministry recognised in this way.  I trust that under God I will continue to serve Him and his Church in a way that is both honouring to Him and a blessing to His people."

Terence has been married to Alison for 17 years and they have 3 children, Hannah (14), Sarah (11) and Ruth (8).
