Diocese of Down & Dromore

The Churches in this group are part of the Lecale Area Mission Partnership (LAMP) – a team of 14 Churches in and around Downpatrick sharing together in the Mission of the Church. This cluster consists of:

Down – St Margaret’s
Hollymount
Tyrella – St John
Seaforde

These four churches seek to be welcoming and open for anyone. 

 

At the heart of everything we do is a desire to worship Jesus and share him with our community.

 

Generally our services follow the structures of the Church of Ireland Book of Common Prayer, in a relaxed and relatively informal setting.

 

St Margaret’s is the Parish Church of the town, and seeks to reach out.  In 2017 we will be opening a Community Centre with drop–in facilities which we hope will be of particular service to residents in the town. 

 

Hollymount is a beautiful church with a wide range of membership from across the area. It’s just outside Downpatrick.  The setting is intimate and beautiful.  We have a lot of children in our services and always seek to welcome more.

 

Seaforde is a Church with a rich history richly connected to the village.  We are the only church in the heart of the village and we try to be a blessing to Seaforde itself and nearby villages. 

 

Tyrella is a small congregation of committed people who meet each Sunday evening.  In the winter this is a cosy setting near the Coast, and in the Summer the beauty of the setting is inescapable.

Directions

• St.Margaret: In the centre of Downpatrick, in Church Ave with access at two points, from Church Street and from Church Avenue (upper gate always unlocked).


• Hollymount: coming from Downpatrick towards Clough, turn off the road to the right after just over a mile from the town at the sign for the church and follow the Drumcullan Road for about a mile to the church.


• Seaforde: at the edge of the village as you leave the village on the main road to Ballynahinch on the right up a long avenue. 


• Tyrella: drive a short distance from Tyrella Beach on the main coastal road towards Clough/Newcastle and the church is on the road on the left.
