Bird of Paradise News, Autumn 2016

Jerome and Mary Munyangaju write with news, almost a year after their departure for Kigali and their full–time commitment to Bird of Paradise Ministries Rwanda. (Jerome is the former rector of Killyleagh.) Here are some highlights:

Relocation plans

A year seems to be very long waiting for God to provide a place to build a home for our residents, but we know that he cares and he will have the place ready in due course.  We continue to pray for it believing that our prayer is going to be answered. The cost of buying a piece of land is what we find unaffordable in our budget. We would like to invite all to pray and give whatever God puts on your heart so that we raise the initial £100,000 for land purchase.

Transport problem solved!

We thank the Lord for the provision of a car. Many thanks to those individuals who gave towards the amount needed to buy it. We now have a 2006 Toyota Rav 4 which is more than adequate for the hills of Rwanda.  It was received with so much excitement!

The residents thought it was too good to be true !  Stephanie (97) asked; “Is this your car”? We said it is yours too! Then she laughed and said, “Now I know why I have lived too long, this is what I was waiting to see! Another one, Khadija (93) said; “At one time I thought I will never live again, leave alone having a car at our door step”! The rest say, “It’s simply a miracle”!

The car helps us in our outreach among the elderly beyond those in our BPMR dwelling. We drive to villages and reach out to give help to some, eg walking sticks, crutches and wheel chairs for some with mobility problems.  Now, hospitals, groceries, church and other activities are made possible with a lot of ease. We are able to travel a few miles away where we grow vegetables, bananas and other crops so as to cut down food costs and also as sustainable plan to provide for our BPMR family. We now pray for rain to come as it is planting season.

Thank you so much for your support for the work of Bird of Paradise Ministries , your gifts and prayers make a huge difference for the elderly in need.  May the Lord richly bless you all.

Yours Sincerely in Christ,

Mary and Jerome Munyangaju
