Apply to train as a Diocesan Evangelist

We are looking for more diocesan evangelists!

Down and Dromore is a missional diocese and we are seeking workers for a new harvest. We train our evangelists through a 2 year course and applications are invited for the programme beginning in 2017.

The course in brief

The course is distance learning based and accredited by St John’s College, Nottingham, and runs in collaboration with New Wine Ireland. It is taken over a 2 year period and will require 8–10 hours work per week as well as a number of training weekends.

Who can apply?

This exciting course is open to adults of any age within the diocese who have a desire to share the gospel but it is best suited to those who are currently involved as workers or volunteers in some form of outreach ministry.

Finance

The course costs £2,496 per person which covers the costs for all academic modules (including key resources) and the training weekends. This amount can be paid monthly.

Successful candidates will be awarded one third (£832) of this amount. We encourage applicants to seek financial support from their local church towards the remaining amount.

Download the information leaflet here.

How to apply

Application forms are available on request (see below). Please also discuss your potential application with your church leader as a letter of support will be required from them.

For application forms or more information please contact Andrew Brannigan on 07950 846621 or email andrew@downanddromore.org.

Closing date for applications: Monday 31 October 2016

Information evening

If you would like hear more about the Course and talk to some of the current Evangelists come to the Information Evening on: Tuesday 20 September at 7.30 pm in Seapatrick Parish Hall, Banbridge.

Some comments from the first group to complete the course:

I really enjoyed meeting other like–minded individuals who want to see people reached for God’s Kingdom and also learning and hearing about new expressions of church and how increasingly they are more and more relevant to today’s society.

I would highly recommend the course to anyone, especially those who think they wouldn’t be any good at it – challenge yourself ! It is a great course to learn with others in the same boat as you and over the period of 2 years you have a wonderful bunch of brothers and sisters who really support and encourage each other in their faith. It is very much like being part of a family and our 1st year group really miss it now it is all over. You will be challenged to evangelise in ways you never thought you would see yourself doing and you will learn a lot about being and effective witness for Jesus and evangelism methods. Also the craic is great!

My favourite part of the course was getting to meet and train alongside some of the nicest and most gifted evangelists in Ireland.
