Justin Welby gives Queen’s Annual Lecture

The Archbishop of Canterbury, the Most Revd and Rt Hon Justin Welby has given the 2016 Annual Theological Lecture at Queen’s.

Dr Welby delivered the lecture to a packed Elmwood Hall on Monday evening 8 February. The event was hosted by the Vice–Chancellor of Queen’s University, Professor Patrick Johnston and was preceded by a reception in The Hub.

The Archbishop chose ‘Reconciliation’ as the theme of his lecture, particularly the crisis in The Levant and Mesopotame. He delivered a nuanced address rich in theology, history and politics which was both constructive and realistic. Dr Welby also took questions from the floor, facilitated by Church of Ireland and Methodist Chaplain, Revd Barry Forde.
