Difficult days in Maridi

On 16 September a petrol tanker overturned 9 miles outside Maridi town. Many people gathered to fill their containers with the petrol but that evening there was an explosion in which over 60 people were burned to death on the spot and over one hundred others were seriously injured.

This amidst the already tense atmosphere in the town and indeed in the country as a whole.

Bishop Justin sent this brief message a couple of days ago:

“I am still involved in many risky interventions. By God’s Grace, I look forward for a positive outcome The high tensions seems to be calming down. We still have high number of casualties of the petrol explosion in the hospital in critical conditions and there are regular death cases amongst them.

Thank you for your continued prayers for us.

Please pray for the peacemakers such as Bishop Justin and that the most recently signed peace deal would hold.
