Magherahamlet Parish says it with flowers

Magherhamlet Parish celebrated its 200th Anniversary with a magnificent Festival of Flowers over the weekend of 8–10 May. The 3 busy days of celebration and hospitality were the culmination of many months of planning but the event was a huge success.

Joy Silcock said: “We were greatly supported by the wider community which was so important to a small parish. The flowers were magnificent and some people came back two or three times over the weekend.

“June Butler MBE officially opened the display entitled ‘Glory to God’ on Friday morning and Spa Primary School Choir got us off to a great start. From there it felt as the whole event grew and grew until Sunday. Bishop Harold led us in a very meaningful service of Holy Communion in the morning and we had a packed church on Sunday evening for our praise service led by Baillies Mills Accordion Band.”

With thanks to Joy Silcock and congratulations to the parish on their 200 years of ministry and witness.
