Pray for Nepal

As news continue to come in from Nepal following the massive earthquake and as the death toll continues to rise, CMS Ireland encourage you to pray for the country and for our partners there – the Zimmermans, HDCS and SD Church.

Following the news of the earthquake, we’ve sought to contact our partners, but mobile networks have been badly affected, so we’ve had mixed success.

Earlier this afternoon, CMSI’s Mission Director, Jenny Smyth, spoke with one of our friends from SD Church. The family and church leaders etc are all safe, as is the SD centre. But there’s lots of destroyed buildings around them and aftershocks were still coming. They asked for prayers for them as a family, for the church folk and for those they work with. As always, those on the margins – the poor and those with disabilities – will be worst affected. Please pray for our partners as they respond.

In addition to your personal prayers, we’d encourage you to pray for Nepal and for our partners in your church services tomorrow. The bbc news updates will provide a clearer picture of the impact across the country. We’ll do our best to share any updates and prayer requests from our partners.

As many of you know, HDCS run a hospital in Lamjung, near the epicentre of the earthquake. It’s all ‘single story’, so we hope it hasn’t been too badly affected, but they’re likely to be inundated with casualties etc. Please pray for the staff at the hospital.

Thank you for your prayerful concern and for your willingness to stand with our partners in Nepal.
