Seagoe Parish serves breakfast and the community

When some members of Seagoe Parish recently became aware that some of the local schoolchildren were going without breakfast they decided to do something about it.

Following discussion with the Principal and staff of Edenderry Primary School, Seagoe Ministries (the community outreach arm of Seagoe Parish) launched Edenderry Breakfast Club in mid September.

A daily breakfast of fruit juice, fresh fruit and toast is now being offered to those who, through the school, have requested to become members of the club. This has been possible with the willing help of volunteers and in association with Irwins Bakery, Chapmans and Asda.

Where children are able to make a small donation towards costs that is welcomed, however breakfast is offered to all regardless of contribution.

“Of course it’s regrettable that economic hardship has forced some families into this situation but we are delighted that within the first week we have been able to help up to about 80 children daily,” says rector, Canon Terence Cadden.”

Any contributions towards costs would be greatly appreciated and these can be sent directly to Seagoe Parish Office. (Gift Aid envelopes are available for tax payers).
