Local event to help churches develop leaders

A new CPAS training day entitled ‘Growing leaders in the local church’ will take place at Christ Church Lisburn on Saturday 18 October.

Bishop Ken ‘Fanta’ Clarke will speak, along with CPAS general director John Dunnett and Kate Marshall, a facilitator and coach who runs her own business helping organisations grow and succeed through developing their people. The training day will enable participants to grow leaders within their local church, as well as help individuals further their own growth as a leader. It is open to ministers, vestry members, elders, readers, youth leaders and anyone else involved in leadership in a local church.

Paul Dundas, Rector of Christ Church, said: ‘We’re very much looking forward to hearing leadership insights and wisdom from Bishop Ken, John Dunnett and Kate Marshall. We warmly invite anybody who is involved in local church leadership to come along to this training day to be encouraged and given tools to develop leadership, so that local churches across the country can become more effective in their mission and ministry.’

This is the seventh CPAS event at Christ Church Lisburn since Christ Church became a training centre for the Anglican evangelical mission agency in 2013. Previous events have covered key leadership topics such as mentoring, realising vision, sustaining oneself in leadership and managing change. Paul Dundas said: ‘All the events have the aim of seeing lay and ordained leaders grow, churches strengthened, and many won for Christ through their mission.’

‘Growing Leaders in the local church’ will take place from 10.00 am–3.30 pm on Saturday 18 October at Christ Church Lisburn. Spaces are limited, and can be booked online here for £20 per person. For every two places booked, a third place is free.
