Final prayer training takes place in Carryduff

St Ignatius, Carryduff, was the venue for our fifth and final 24–7 Prayer training event on 27 August. Since our first training evening in Knocknagoney at the end of November, we’ve been keeping ahead of the prayer scroll, preparing parishes to set up their prayer rooms and take on the prayer vigil for between 2 and 5 days. All of the training evenings have been a great success and the last was no exception with over 50 people attending.

Tash Creaney, our 24–7 Prayer Coordinator, gave the group 90 minutes of background, ideas, practical tips and lots of encouragement. The prayer room is a multi–sensory space set up with creative stations, each with a different focus to guide and stimulate people in their praying. Tash shared some great prayer station ideas from parishes that have already held the prayer scroll and the group also split into smaller teams to do some brainstorming of their own.

Year of 24–7 Prayer

The scroll began it’s journey on 1 January in the Titanic Quarter at the Dock Cafe and is currently on its way to Dromore. All of our parishes will hold the scroll at some point during the year and with it the responsibility for sustaining prayer as we lay the foundation for the Year of Mission.

It has been an overwhelmingly positive experience so far and we’re confident that the group of parishes just trained will be blessed as they embark upon their 24–7 prayer slot before Christmas.

Our 24–7 Prayer vigil will end with a celebration in Belfast Cathedral on 31 December and we hope that you will join us as a year of prayer gives way to 2015 and our Year of Mission.
