Archbishop of Dublin’s statement following the death of former Taoiseach

Statement from the Most Revd Dr Michael Jackson on the Death of Former Taoiseach, Mr Albert Reynolds

The Church of Ireland Archbishop of Dublin, Dr Michael Jackson, expresses his sympathy to all the members of the Reynolds family on the recent death of Mr Albert Reynolds, former Taoiseach.  He acknowledges the courageous and creative work which Mr Reynolds did in enabling peace to come about in Ireland.

He said: “I particularly recall the twentieth anniversary of The Downing Street Agreement and the subsequent IRA–loyalist ceasefires, we ought to recognise the contribution made by those who caught the vision of peace across the island of Ireland and gave of themselves to make it a living reality.”
