Pray with our brothers and sisters for South Sudan

Unfortunately a team from Down & Dromore has had to postpone their trip to Maridi in February. See here for more details.

Read Bishop Justin’s latest email from Maridi, South Sudan, sent on 7 January and please pray accordingly:

Dear friends

Greetings to you all in the name of our beloved Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

We are grateful to God that the situation in Maridi and the whole of Western Equatoria is still calm and peaceful.

What affects us now is the fear of what is happening all around us. Some of the displaced people coming to Maridi for safety and the scarcity of essential commodities in the market which has resulted in raising of prices.

As a Church we are continuing with prayers and encouragement to those who have come to us in Maridi. As you may know the main problem seems to be between the two tribes of Dinka and Nuer.

Our prayer request are that:

  • There could be a political solution to the problem for peace to prevail to end the current suffering.
  • Pray that the two waring tribes may not be violent in western Equatoria.
  • Pray that the church will continue to be strong to preach the message of peace and reconciliation to the people.

We very much value your prayers and thank you.

Bishop of Maridi
