A bit about us:
The present church was consecrated in 1791 replacing the previous church in Drumbo village that had fallen derilect for many years. The site was choosen by Lord Hillsborough shortly to become the Marquis of Downshire. The church was extended in 1863/4 by adding transfits and a chancel. A peel of bells was added when the church was built which still call worshippers to church today. Drumbo appears to have been united with Drumbeg before the present churches were constructed. The church has a peal of 8 bells, 6 were installed when the church was built and a further 2 added in 1977. The font was formerly in Christ Church, Belfast which closed in 1994.We worship in a typical parish church situated in a beautiful area of the Lagan Valley just south of Belfast. Our worship would be fairly traditional Anglican with a variety of services to encourage contemporary feel to our services. There is an emphasis on Biblical preaching and an accessible and welcoming use of the prayer book services.
The Future:
We seek to continue to develop our worship making it more accessible and relevant. We also seek to reach out with the Christian faith through use of the Alpha Course, which runs each autumn. As we have just finished a major renovation programme for the church payment for the work will be a major consideration over the next five years.
