A bit about us:

Bangor has a rich heritage of Christian witness, being known in the Golden Age of Irish Celtic Chrstianity as The Light to the Nations! Comgall was a man of great missionary zeal and in 1882 Bangor Parish Church was built and named after this man of vision.

By the late 19th Century the Abbey Church was in need of considerable repair and plans were brought forward to build a new church in the centre of the town. By 1877 funds were raised and Mr R.E. ward of Bangor Castle donated the site for the construction of St Comgall's. Consecration took place in 1882 and the chancel was added in 1892 with completion of the spire in 1899. The church has a peal of 8 bells and the present organ was installed in 191 as a memorial to those who fell in the Great War. The organ was refurbished in memory of those who served in the 1939-1945 war. St Comgall's is richly endowed with stained glass windows.

Welcome! That is central to us as a family here in Bangor Parish Church. It is the hallmark of a loving family and so we strive to make everyone welcome, who comes to us as our guest. But it doesnt end there! Our prayer is that every guest will, in their own time, become a member of Gods family among us. We run Alpha Courses regularly to help guests investigate the joys and responsibilities of being a family member. The next step is growing more like Jesus Christ within this family, which is why we have a network of small groups offering a place to belong, learn and grow. Finally, we encourage family members to be active in loving and serving each other and in encouraging others to join the family. We hope youll come to see us in our family home.

The Future:
The Lord plans to build a mighty church here in Bangor. This church will involve many local churches, and will once again cause Bangor to be known as The Light to the Nations. Bangor Parish Church will be at the very tip of this powerful arrow, which gets to the root of societal problems in North Down. We believe that the Lord will bring 3,500 people each weekend to worship Him in Bangor Parish Church what a sight that will be! Come Lord Jesus.
